My Three Years in Istanbul: A Journey of Growth and Opportunity

As I prepare to close this chapter of my life and move back to Los Angeles, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey I’ve had over the past three years in Istanbul. What began as an unexpected visit turned into a transformative adventure filled with remarkable opportunities and personal growth.

I arrived in Istanbul with no intention of staying long, but the city had other plans. The first opportunity that came my way was from Dolcezza Montreal, a textile company that quickly became like family. Working with EMC and Ercan Indap was an enriching experience that I will always treasure.

The second opportunity was a dream come true: a TV presenting role at TRT World. Becoming a TV presenter had always been my aspiration, and Istanbul made it a reality. This role allowed me to grow both professionally and personally, helping me become more confident and bold.

Beyond my career, Istanbul has been a place of immense personal growth. I’ve evolved into a more self-assured and empowered woman, embracing my inner femme fatale. The friendships I’ve formed here are with some of the most beautiful and intelligent women I’ve ever met, and I know these connections will last a lifetime.

My time in Istanbul has been filled with unforgettable experiences:

  • Four billboards in three years showcasing my work.
  • Cold plunges that invigorated my spirit.
  • Masquerade balls that added a touch of mystery and glamour to my life.
  • Golf photoshoots that combined my love for fashion and sport.
  • Bosphorus walks that offered serene moments of reflection.
  • Baklava feasts that satisfied my sweet tooth.
  • My first lead role in a reelshort drama, a milestone in my acting career.
  • Bodrum boat parties that were the epitome of summer fun.
  • Blue Mosque visits that left me in awe of Istanbul’s rich history and architecture.
  • Marathons that tested my endurance and determination.
  • Fish restaurants that delighted my taste buds with fresh, local cuisine.
  • Horse riding at Kemer Country Club, a perfect escape into nature.
  • Henna parties that celebrated cultural traditions.
  • Skiing in Kayseri, an exhilarating winter adventure.
  • Belgrade Forest runs that kept me fit and connected to nature.
  • Sober rave parties at Soho House, redefining nightlife.
  • Steak dinners at Nusr-et, a culinary delight.

Istanbul has changed me in profound ways. It has taught me Patience, resilience, adaptability, and the importance of seizing opportunities. From the lowest moments of uncertainty to the highest peaks of success, I have grown immensely. Starting from zero and working my way up in just three years is an accomplishment I am incredibly proud of. One of my proudest achievements is learning to speak Basic Turkish  in these three years, which has deepened my connection to the culture and people of this vibrant city.

Being banned from the US was a challenging setback, but it led me to find my purpose in Istanbul. I stepped out of the modeling world and followed my dream of becoming a presenter and a businesswoman. This city has given me the platform to achieve my goals and the confidence to pursue my passions.

As I prepare to return to Los Angeles, I carry with me the memories, experiences, and friendships that have shaped me over these three incredible years. Istanbul will always hold a special place in my heart, and I am grateful for every moment spent in this vibrant city. Here’s to new beginnings and the exciting adventures that await in Los Angeles!

Introducing “Baked with Love”: Egith’s Second ReelShort Drama

I’m thrilled to share the exciting news about my latest vertical short drama on DramaPop, titled “Baked with Love”. This ReelShort drama brings a fresh twist to the classic Cinderella tale, with the talented Egith taking on the lead role.

A Modern Cinderella

In “Baked with Love,” Egith shines as a modern-day Cinderella. Unlike the traditional story, our Cinderella isn’t waiting for a fairy godmother to change her fate. Instead, she takes charge of her destiny with a passion for baking and a heart full of dreams. Egith’s portrayal of this strong, independent character is both inspiring and relatable.

The Plot

The story follows Egith’s character, a young woman who works tirelessly in a quaint bakery. Despite facing numerous challenges and a demanding stepfamily, she remains optimistic and determined to succeed. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she meets a charming entrepreneur who recognizes her talent and offers her a chance to showcase her skills on a grand stage.

Egith’s Second ReelShort Drama

“Baked with Love” marks Egith’s second collaboration with DramaPop on a ReelShort drama. Her first project was a huge success, and she continues to captivate audiences with her versatile acting skills. This new drama further showcases her ability to bring depth and authenticity to her roles, making her a standout performer in the world of vertical short dramas.

Why You’ll Love It

“Baked with Love” is more than just a love story; it’s a tale of resilience, self-discovery, and the power of following one’s passion. The drama beautifully captures the essence of modern romance while staying true to the timeless elements of the Cinderella story. Egith’s performance is captivating, bringing depth and authenticity to her character.

Join the Journey

I invite you to watch “Baked with Love” on DramaPop and experience this heartwarming story for yourself. Whether you’re a fan of classic fairy tales or modern dramas, this ReelShort production is sure to leave you inspired and entertained.

IGGY most beautiful girl of Soho House Istanbul

Crowned ‘The most beautiful girl of Soho House Istanbul’

A heartfelt thank you to @efeswiss @gazetepencere for the sweet mention, and a joyous Happy 9th Birthday 🎉 to Soho House!
Being recognized as the most beautiful girl in the club is the icing on the cake of this fabulous celebration. 🎂✨

The most beautiful girl of the night was the Dutch model Egith Van Dinther, who presented the culture and art program called Showcase on TRT World. Egith has been living in Turkey for 3 years. She cheered up the dance floor of Corpi Palas with her 1.80 height and agile dances.

Hey… She couldn’t stand the crowd. She wanted to dance more comfortably. That’s why she continued the night in the room called Embassy on the top floor. In this room, they played music in a different style, hip-hop, R&B.

Dinther has a confident stance. Her attitude is warm and sympathetic… I asked what she was with Turkish men. She said that they were very jealous, that she had difficulty in relating to Turkish men: We are very different, our cultures are different, my relationships with Turkish men do not get anywhere. Last Friday night, a Turkish man invited Egith to dinner somewhere. But this first date ended with a crisis of jealousy again. Was this situation due to our Turks’ self-confidence deficiencies? Or did our men trust Egith but not the environment? As Fehmi Koru said for a while, Aydın Doğan was good, but his environment was bad? Oh bitch time… Neither Fehmi Koru left nor Aydın Doğan left…

IGGY IN PARIS

Bonjour, mes amis!

I’m Iggy van Dinther, a TV PRESENTER and Brandface for Dolcezza, a Canadian fashion label that creates stunning clothing items inspired by art. I’m so excited to share with you my experience of visiting Paris for the ‘Who’s Next’ fashion fair, where I had the opportunity to work and present the new spring 2024 collection of Dolcezza.

‘Who’s Next’ is the leading international fashion trade show for womenswear in Europe, where more than 1,200 brands showcase their latest collections to buyers, press, and influencers from all over the world1. It’s a great place to discover new trends, network with industry professionals, and get inspired by the creativity and diversity of fashion.

I was honored to be part of the Dolcezza team that attended the fair from September 2nd to 4th September.

I had so much fun working as the brandface for Dolcezza at the fair. I got to wear some of the most beautiful pieces from the collection and show them off to the visitors. I also got to interact with some of the artists behind the artworks and learn more about their inspirations and techniques. It was amazing to see how their paintings came to life on fabric and how they complemented different body types and personalities.

I had a wonderful time in Paris for the ‘Who’s Next’ fashion fair. It was an unforgettable experience that enriched my career and my personal life. I’m so grateful to Dolcezza for giving me this opportunity and for creating such amazing clothing items that express my colorful spirit and help me shine bright every day.

Thank you for reading my blog post. I hope you enjoyed it and that you are as excited as I am for the new spring 2024 collection of Dolcezza. You can check out their website4 for more information and shop online3 for their current collections. IGGY hosted the black carpet for Urban November

Background

Urban November is an artistic collaboration primarily between some of the biggest names in the African and Turkish creative industry.

Since 2018, an art exhibition to celebrate and showcase their creative journey is held in Istanbul every November. The idea was conceived and brought to life by Akai Stephen and his Turkish business partner Ugur Bir. Both are architects by profession and have been working together for nearly a decade.

This year’s exhibition is themed around some of Nigeria’s gods and deities expressed on fabrics, glass, and illuminated by a golden dash of white light. The evolution of the female mind on canvas and the infinity murmurations of pigeons which, according to the artist, symbolizes the soul of Istanbul are just but a few on display.
