California dreaming! Story of an immigrant in Los Angeles who made her (American) dream

Not just NY: just around the corner from Hollywood is Los Angeles, where a super healthy lifestyle is embraced and career dreams come true

The American dream belongs to many women, but not all of them want to move to New York. On the other side of the United States of America, on the west coast, the most popular destination is Los Angeles: the Californian capital has so much to offer for those who dream of embarking on a glamorous career and a super healthy lifestyle.

Moving to Los Angeles is well worth it, and not only because it is there that lives and teaches yoga the mother of Meghan Markle (but it is rumored that he wants to move to London to stay closer to his daughter). Consider then that a few steps from Hollywood has also bought Chiara Ferragni, whose circle of friends italo-losangeline also includes Bianca Balti. But let’s get straight to the heart of the matter: is Los Angeles or is not a city suitable only for stars? The answer is negative, and to prove it we interviewed Egith van Dinther, a Dutch model who started her career in Los Angeles practically out of nowhere. And she managed to make (almost) all her dreams.

“At the beginning it was really difficult for me – says Egith – I moved to Los Angeles with nothing in my pocket, I did not have an agency or pre-arranged interviews, I did not have a visa nor a house: I started from scratch.” receive continuous ‘no’ has been part of the game and Iggy – so he calls his friends – did not even discouraged when he tried to break through as a model in New York: “Wherever I went they told me they already have a face similar to mine. Rejected after refusal, it was really difficult, but just when I was about to give up three months later I was offered a freelance job: I could finally survive, thanks to them if I still live in LA today and got my visa. other bureaucratic intrigues, not just the visa to live in Los Angeles is enough. “You have to show the immigration office that you are working hard to stay in the US – says Egith – Indeed, in my case as a model – h or had three months to prepare the documents. I had to provide 80 publications with my face, 10 letters of references, 5 covers and other proofs of my work. After sending everything, I felt incredibly proud of myself. The happiest moment of my career came three months later when they approved me in the US. As you can see, never give up on dreams: hard work is rewarded “.”

And if in New York the culture of fast food breaks out, Los Angeles is instead the home of super healthy lifestyle, yoga and vegan food par excellence. “I took a holistic lifestyle after meeting my current boyfriend here in LA. There are yoga centers literally in every corner – reveals Egith van Dinther – at the beginning I was skeptical but over time I found incredible benefits. Work outs, detox feeding, outdoor jousts and meditation have become part of my daily routine. I love this lifestyle, it represents who I am and I hope to pass it on to my children tomorrow “.

To motivate the need for long walks in Los Angeles is also (perhaps) the only negative aspect of the Californian capital: the terrible amount of cars in the street. “Walking and taking the metro is strange to everyone here. Meanwhile, the traffic is absurd: once I was stuck for four hours while I went to a casting, I hope the situation will change “. The Los Angeles fashion industry is not far behind: “Everything flows fast. Sometimes, people judge you based on where you live and are not really interested in who you really are. ”

All of this, however, does not detract from any beauty in Los Angeles, indeed, Egith van Dinther is not slow to reassure those who are ready to buy a one-way ticket to California: “It’s amazing how many wonderful people can meet here. This is a creative city, but only the strongest and most motivated survive. And it is exactly by clenching the teeth that one finds oneself to work with the best experts in cinema and fashion “.

Golden Globes After Party’s

HBO’s Golden Globe awards after party

I was happily invited for some afterparties after the nominations. The Best party far out was the HBO party. Many stars showed there second outfit on the glamorous feast. It was a night FULL of drinks, food and of course DANCING.

The Good thing about the Golden Globes parties is that they are all held at the same location; the Beverly Hilton. that saves a lot of hassle.

Healthy Lifestyle

For me to be Happy, means working on myself every day.

Waking up and doing my work-out is crucial for me to be a happy and positive person. It’s a drug for me. If I don’t have my exercise in the morning I feel disgusting the whole day. It feels like I’m missing something.

In order to contain that healthy way of living it maintain some strict discipline from yourself. But its all about where your priorities are.

Living in La, makes living healthy very easy. Every corner where you look is a health Bar, Clean Eating Spot or a Yoga Class.

Myself I’m training at Equinox. It’s my second home. 3 times a week I’m training with my Personal Trainer Gene. He is my rock. Also known by Mean Gene. He doesn’t talk much, but he really let me work hard. And that’s what I need. I don’t want to chitchat when I’m in the gym. I wanne sweat and feel amazing after my workout. And that’s what Gene does.

See below for some of my workouts. In my next post I will give you a guideline of my normal routine. Xoxo Iggy
